WMB is a covenant community called by God through Jesus Christ to make more and better disciples of all people by calling them to join us in responding to God's love through repentance, baptism, and love for God and neighbour.

Gospel

We believe the gospel is the good news that through Jesus Christ, the power of God’s Kingdom has entered history to renew the whole world - individuals, neighbourhoods, societies, cities, nations, and all of God’s creation. This renewal is a work that was made possible by Christ’s life, death and resurrection, and is presently continuing to unfold as Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit, dwells in the lives of those who choose to follow him.

At WMB, we desire to glorify God in all we do. As followers of God’s son, Jesus, we seek to live according to his ways. We respond to God’s love for us by demonstrating hospitality, grace and love to others, whether neighbours, enemies or strangers. In our desire to discern Christ’s activity around us, we are committed to prayer, service and studying scripture. We seek the Kingdom of God on this earth, but await the day when Christ returns and God’s Kingdom is fully realized.

People

We believe all people bear the image of God and have intrinsic value. Despite our brokenness we are treasured. God longs to reconcile all people to himself, in a right relationship with him and with one another. His desire is that the walls which divide people be broken down, and that we live in peaceful community.

At WMB, we celebrate the diversity of people with unique stories and backgrounds coming together. As followers of Jesus, we treat people as he did, and work for equality and justice. We come alongside people at various stages in their faith journey and encourage them to take the next step. We call those who meet and serve regularly with us, and share our faith, to join our covenant community as members of WMB Church.

Transformed Lives

We believe in life change because God invites and calls us to transformation. God seeks to redeem, restore and renew each of us, our church community and the community around us. When we decide to follow Jesus – believing and trusting in him, listening and responding to the Holy Spirit, following him in life and mission – we are on a journey of transformation.

At WMB, we invite people into this journey of spiritual transformation in Jesus’ name. We call all people to reflect, repent and realign their lives around Jesus and his Kingdom. We call followers of Jesus to live lives of faith, risk and obedience to him. This includes engaging community, corporate worship, remembering the Lord’s supper, believers’ baptism and participating in mission.

Impact

We believe God uses us to change the world. Reflecting God’s missionary heart, Jesus was sent to a needy world. We too are called, empowered and sent to be missionaries in Jesus’ name. Jesus commissions us to make a positive impact in our world, bringing renewal to people, systems and structures. God’s love lived out amongst us is a witness within the world that points to his saving work.

At WMB, we send one another into the world to demonstrate courageous faith, justice and generosity, risking our own comfort for the blessing of others. We gladly share the hope of Christ to a world needing God’s redemption. We discern tangible ways to participate in God’s activity in our neighbourhoods, schools, workplaces, cities and world, as we serve him everyday. In doing so, we prayerfully depend on God’s grace and power, knowing that God is faithful.
