Giving to others from what we have

My husband and I had been asking our five year old daughter, Hannah, if she would like to give away some toys, as it would soon be Christmas, and she would most likely be getting some more. At first she was reluctant and unsure if she wanted to part with any of her toys. It took puppets named "Wally the camel" and his friend "R.D.", to convince her to do this.

Hannah attended the children's "Winter Wumba" Christmas party at WMB. Wally was telling all the kids how he loves to get lots of presents for Christmas, "as that is what Christmas is all about", he said on numerous occasions. His friend R.D. told him and the kids otherwise - that it really is about giving, because God gave His Son for us at Christmas. That's why we celebrate.

The next morning Hannah woke up, and the first thing she said was, "Mummy, Wally the camel is wrong, Christmas isn't about getting lots of presents. R.D. was right, it is about giving." She then asked if we could look through her toys, to give some away to other girls and boys who may need them. I asked Hannah is she could find five very special toys to give away. Much to our delight and surprise, she managed to find over ten toys that were pretty special to her. Hannah then boxed them up, we took them to the church and asked if they could be passed on to other children.

It is exciting that God uses the youngest among us to teach us how to share and give of what we have with others!
