Teri's experience

From Leader to Learner

Teri's story, Ecuador Mission, March 2010 (leader's perspective)

My time in Quito, Ecuador was an absolutely wonderful, meaningful, & very powerful experience. I felt everything from utter bewilderment and sadness at the many stories of tragedy and despair from the Ecuadorian people of all ages to sheer awe & delight, at how these same people can & do believe in the amazing, redeeming power of their Almighty Saviour. What I learned from all the stories we heard, both the Ecuadorian & Canadian testimonies, brought me to my knees before my God & Saviour and resulted in a fresh new level of my own faith & trust in Him. I went down there to help lead our youth group in doing some hands-on work (& play, of course!) with, and for, the people of Ecuador.  I ended up enjoying the company & learning so much, from both the people we went to serve, as well as our own team members, about life, love and how to really open up yourself to let God's power and love show in everything you do and say.  I will never be the same person I was before I went to Ecuador ... because hopefully, I brought a little bit of it back with me.
