Amy's Story

Amy's Story

Amy loves to create a warm and caring space for our youngest children to learn about God's great love for us. Over the years, she has appreciated the way WMB as a family strives to meet the practical needs of those in our community. When she was approached about becoming the volunteer coordinator for the nursery, toddler and preschool rooms, she saw it as a great way to practically get involved in children's ministry. For 10 years Amy worked in a local daycare as an early childhood educator, and now she is at home with her own small children. Amy finds it rewarding to be able to use the skills that she gained over the years in these settings. She says “It is so wonderful to see how God is working in the lives of these children...they say some of the most interesting things and ask very thought provoking questions! I am often reminded of the scripture that says we need to come to God as children to really know him:

People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it. And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.” (Mark 13-15)

As a mother of two boys, Amy knows how wonderful it is to have a place where her children can be free to ask questions, meet with their friends and have a space where they can together connect with other young families in our congregation. “We are all on this journey together and it is good to know we are not alone.”
