Who: Susanna Muntz
With: Inter-varsity Christian Fellowship

What: As the Central Field Director Susanna holds visions and gives leadership to ministry on all university campuses in Ontario. She spends her days travelling between cities developing staff and students and… well… doing the administrative paperwork that is required. In total she supervises 28 committed and skilled staff throughout the province. Their passion is to raise up student leaders and serve their campuses through helping students encounter Jesus through scripture and prayer, offering discipleship and leadership development, facilitating personal witness and acts of justice on the campus, and leading international and urban student summer missions.

Through Susanna, WMB provides some financial support to new InterVarsity staff workers. This is a great encouragement to individuals as they begin their missionary fundraising process. It also enables these leaders to more quickly begin their campus ministry.

Where: Kitchener, Ontario

My Missions Story:
Sarah graduated with a business degree from Laurier in December, 2010. She recently told me about her future job opportunities and where she thinks she might move as a result of being quickly promoted. Sarah’s primary concern was who would be her community and what would be her ministry? Sarah became a believer in the spring of 2009 after another student developed a friendship with her and then invited her to study the Bible. She went on to be discipled by the Inter-Varsity staff on her campus and belonged to the vibrant Christian student community there. She was trained to lead Bible studies, discovered prayer as a powerful way to hear from and speak to Jesus and grew in peace and hope even in the midst of medical crisis in her family. Last year she went to Bangladesh with me to build inter-cultural friendships and love the poor. As she graduates she is aware of how much her life has been transformed by Jesus. Instead of building her resume she wants to love her co-workers and help them encounter the living God. She wants to tithe generously… perhaps 1/3 of her salary. As she considers the move that will be required by her company she views it as an opportunity to be sent by God with mission and purpose to a new city and a new people.  As a missionary to students in Ontario it is my joy to watch people like Sarah graduate and move to new neighbourhoods, cities and countries. They are being sent as servant leaders of the Kingdom to multiply the good work that has started in them amongst friends, neighbours and co-workers.

Prayer Items:

  • Vision and creativity as I design training for staff and students on how to connect more widely with students and faculty on the campus.
  • Perseverance and faith as I raise $10,000 in new support this year.
