Finish the Race Well - Marv Franz
If you've ever run a long distance race you know how easy it is to start - and how hard it is to finish well. The Apostle Paul uses this imagery of what we are striving for in life - to finish well! Perhaps you feel like Timothy, Paul's apprentice, who needs encouragement to keep going and strive to finish the race of life well. Consider how the words written by Paul can be an inspiration to you. -

Running the Gauntlet (When the race gets ugly) - Dean Sherk
(2 Timothy 3)
Have you ever felt like everyone and everything was against you? That ‘enemies' of all sorts and sizes were trying to take you out of the race? The apostle Paul instructs Timothy to expect some tough times in these "last days". He describes the intensity and character of people in the last days. Are the false teachers and imposters outside, or inside the church? What's a young leader to do? What's any disciple to do?
Paul encourages Timothy (and us) to remember two critical truths that will help one stay the course and keep the faith ...when the race gets ugly. -

When the Noise Gets Too Loud - Guest Steve Brown, Key Life Network
In Luke 10, we are told the story of Mary and Martha. Martha worked hard in the kitchen preparing a meal for their guest, Jesus, while Mary sat in another room with Him. So often in life, we miss what Jesus wants to teach us because we are busy doing "right things", but for the wrong reasons. We need to go to Jesus first - He is a safe place. When the Noise gets too loud, go, sit at Jesus feet, and listen to His voice.

A Fork in the Road - Paul McIlwraith
Have you ever come to a "fork in the road" as you have traveled by car, bicycle or by foot? Have you ever had to make a decision, before you took another step forward, either to go to the right or the left? Many times in our life journey, we come to a point where we have a choice which pathway we will go down.
Timothy had come to a fork in the road of his leadership in the church in first century Ephesus. He had some decisions to make as he lead through persecution and adversity. But he wasn't alone in his journey, his mentor Paul continued to be his cheerleader from afar, exhorting him to continue the race, keeping his eyes on the finish line and he would run the race of his life well. This passage of scripture was an encouragement to Timothy and it is to us as well, as we run the race of our lives focused on Jesus.
