Anticipating... Encounters with Jesus - Paul McIlwraith
In the first century, Jesus entered into life with his community. He taught with wisdom and authority that no one had ever seen before; He loved with words and actions and He invited people into this new life. He turned the code of this society upside down and many found His message hard to swallow. His gospel was an "inconvenient truth", to the hearers in His day and to us, today. How do we respond to His timeless message of Hope... with fear and skepticism or do we anticipate an encounter with Jesus?

Humility - Paul McIlwraith
Hours before his death, Jesus makes a remarkable statement to His disciples about His love for them. It transcends words and leaves us startled at just who Jesus is. As He stoops to wash the disciples' feet, the duty of a slave, He tells them everything they need to know about who He is and what His kingdom is about. Just what is all said in the remarkable act?

Generosity - Paul McIlwraith
Have you ever thought of God as being Generous?
The concept of a "Christian life" is about fully entering into the generosity of God, and being able to give all day, every day as a pattern of our lives. The giving of ourselves flows out of the transformation of our lives because we have been "wrecked" by the generosity of God.What's our response to a generous God? Life in the kingdom of God is a life lived in gratitude that extends to all that we do...our worship, our giving and our service.

The Economy of Grace - Karen West
Jesus uses the parable of the vineyard owner in Matthew 20:1-16 to give us a clear picture of the Kingdom of God. From a worldly perspective, considering the values of most societies, the vineyard owner (and therefore the Kingdom of God) is not fair! But what if we have misunderstood the motivation of the vineyard owner? What if his motivation is not to find people that can ‘produce' for the vineyard? What if his motivation, instead, is to care for and provide for the needs of all who wait in the marketplace? With that perspective, what was considered an injustice becomes instead a gift of grace!

What Does it Mean to be Sent? Paul McIlwraith
Mission is all about Jesus sending his followers dependent, vulnerable yet focused. As Christ followers this is our mandate. We are to embody the upside kingdom that Jesus ushered in. That is... "to proclaim good news for the poor, freedom for the prisoners, sight for the blind and release for the oppressed" (Luke 4:18). Jesus sent his early followers into the towns and cities that He intended to go to, and today he is sending us to these places as well.
That is what it means to be sent in our world today.
