Uncovered Treasures: Onesimus & Philemon - Karen West
Onesimus and Philemon are two individuals in the bible with very different ‘personal power' from the world's perspective - one a slave, and the other a master. But the Apostle Paul reminds us that, in Christ, God sees them as equals. He calls Philemon to use his status in society, not to advance himself, but to give Onesimus equal status. God is at work to redeem the power structures of our world, and it begins in each of our relationships. Where do we have personal power that we can use, not to advance ourselves, but to build-up and empower others? -

Uncovered Treasures: Mephibosheth - Marv Franz
We live in a culture that treats promises lightly. What might it mean for us to take our commitments to one another seriously? Mephibosheth is a character few have discovered in the Bible, let alone can say! Uncovered Treasures: Men of Issachar - Paul McIlwriath
In a rather obscure passage of the Bible it states that "the Men of Issachar understood their times and knew what Israel was to do". What a wonderful situation to be in - to understand the culture that you are surrounded by and then to know how to engage it. I wonder if that can be said for those they proclaim to follow Jesus today? Do we understand our culture? Do we know how to live out our faith day to day in our neighbourhoods and communities? True understanding is when the truth of God is in our hearts, giving us an awareness of and an insight into the world around us and our purpose and place in it. -

Uncovered Treasures: Mary Magdalene - Paul McIlwraith
Although only mentioned periodically in the New Testament, Mary Magdalene became a central character and witness to the death and resurrection of Jesus. She herself experienced the grace of God in an amazing conversion story and she remained a true and faithful servant of her Rabbi, Jesus for the rest of her life. Although looked on in her culture as a second class citizen, God chose to use the life of Mary Magdalene to bear witness to his love and grace and resurrection power.

Uncovered Treasures: Manoah's Wife - Karen West
Sometimes it seems like God is silent in the circumstances of our lives. How do we listen and hear from God, and follow him one step at a time? Through the story of Manoah's wife, we can learn about listening, trust, faith and hope through even the empty places of life.
Acted monologue and Becky Peter's personal testimony proceed Karen's message.
