Don't Forget the Lyrics - Paul McIlwraith

Concluding our Nehemiah Series

Narrative. Stories. These tend to be the latest buzz words in the Christian Community today. What's your story? It is interesting as you take time to reflect and ponder the biblical narrative that God has chosen to weave His redemptive message all throughout the pages of the bible in the lives of ordinary people in the story of their lives. As we conclude the series, The Wall, based on the book of Nehemiah in the Old Testament, perhaps we can conclude that the theme of the book was not necessarily the construction project of the wall but that God was actually rebuilding His city by restoring His people to Him. It was the story of their lives. The greater plan that God had in mind from the beginning for His people. So what is your story? How is God been at work in your life? Join us for the conclusion of "The Wall".

Read together with your small group Nehemiah chapter 11:1-2.

One Question for Discussion.

For the Israelites, they cast lots to repopulate Jerusalem to restore God's glory to the city. Based on what you have read in Nehemiah 11:1-2, what "neighbourhood" has God called you to "move" into to be an imagine bearer for His glory in your world? What does that look like for you? Discuss and dream about this concept with your group and pray for one another as you seek to discern God's purpose and plan for you in this area.

Nehemiah 9:32 - 10:39

Have you ever been convicted to do something? An issue, a concern has so gripped your heart that you just had to act on it? In 445 BC in Jerusalem, the Israelite people were so touched by their encounter with the living God during the rebuilding of a wall, that they couldn't help but be moved to action. They couldn't help but worship Him. They couldn't help but stand in the heat of the day for 5-6 hours to listen to the scriptures being read. They couldn't help but repent of their sins and they couldn't help but be drawn back to Yahweh, the covenant God, to recommit to their relationship with Him and to take action in the areas that they have neglected. Revival came to Jerusalem in 445 B.C., God's glory was restored to the city through his people but, did it last? Join us for the message from Nehemiah Chapter 9 and 10, "From this Moment".

Time After Time - Dean Sherk
Nehemiah 9

What's our spiritual story?  How has God been a key player in our real life drama? How have we responded to God's activity in our lives?  Is there a need for us to
corporately confess?   What does that mean?   What difference might a reflection
on ‘our story' make regarding our future?
Nehemiah and Ezra lead the people of Israel into a time of reflection and corporate
confession.  What did they discover about God, themselves and their future?
Listen in to find out how confession was and is a key initiative in returning to God.
